As my work has increasingly shifted towards environmental activism and wildlife documentation, I’ve felt it was important to revise my public-facing website to better reflect that direction. I’m still taking bookings for portraiture, live events, and weddings, but I increasingly see this work as a means of supporting my broader endeavours.

Creating under capitalism is a strange and uncomfortable experience. Having to promote myself in ways that feel disconnected from the passions I hold most dear; wildlife, conservation, and environmental advocacy. I’ve struggled to reconcile the different aspects of my work: creating for the love of art, creating to share a message and celebrate the beauty of the natural world, and creating in order to sustain myself.

I genuinely love photographing people and documenting important moments in their lives. Whether it’s a wedding, an event or a portrait session, there’s something deeply rewarding about sharing in those experiences. At the same time, I their is a significant divide between this work and the conservation and wildlife advocacy that increasingly shapes my life. I don’t want to stop taking these photographs or sharing in those joyful moments with clients, but I also want to be honest about the fact that this work helps make it possible for me to pursue my lifelong passion for wildlife and environmental conservation.

By placing my environmental advocacy at the forefront of my practice, I feel able to engage with clients more authentically and share what truly motivates me. I also believe the skills I’ve developed through wildlife photography and conservation work are highly transferable to photographing people and events. Patience, observation, storytelling, witnessing and capturing meaningful moments are just as important when documenting human lives as they are when documenting the natural world.
